Patricia Palleschi, Ph.D.Patricia Palleschi spent 25 years developing and implementing human resource strategies that make organizations and individuals successful. Pat 's heart and soul are devoted to developing learning environments. Because she has vast experience with executives and managers, she believes that the most important thing for the 21st Century leader to learn is how to be true to themselves and their values, family, company, community, and friends. As Vice President of Human Resources Development at Disneyland, she was in charge of the Disney University. In that position she and her team implemented many management and technical programs. While at Disneyland Pat was also in charge of hiring up to 5,000 people a year. The mission for Pat's department was to attract, develop and retain Disney Cast members who were "pumped to perform." After a stint at Disneyland, Pat was promoted to work at the Walt Disney Company Corporate Level. She worked with the CEO, COO, and the Presidents of the Studio, the Stores, Animation, Publishing, Theme Parks, the CFO, as well as other members of the very top team. Her job was to "stem the loss of high potential talent" from the Walt Disney Company. In order to do that, she had to develop a clear description of what "high potential" talent looked like. After many discussions with the top team, Michael Eisner said that top talent had to have a "feel for story telling," because story telling distinguished Disney from Walmart. Bob Iger stressed "integrity." (Being able to make a profit was also essential!) With these three characteristics, among others, Pat and her team helped to identify the top 100 people out of 100,000 employees who worked for Disney. From those top100, about 35 were considered high potential. During her tenure, only one high potential left the company. Previously, Pat was Senior VP of Training for Bank of America. She made the transition from head of Human Resources for the Security Pacific California Bank to head of Training at Bank of America. She was part of an "integration" team that reduced the total employee size by almost fifty percent. It was a thrilling and depressing assignment. As head of training, she managed a budget of over $20 million and over 200 training professionals around the world. During this time all skills, credit and management training --- including computer simulated training for the thousands of tellers -- was under her leadership. She managed the succession process and an on site training facility that housed global credit officers during their one month required training program. Prior to her work in the corporate world, Pat earned her doctorate at the University of Massachusetts. Pat then moved to the West Coast to assume the position of Assistant Professor and was quickly promoted to Chair of the Speech Communication Department at Loyola Marymount University. She taught Interpersonal, Organizational and Business Communications. She has consulted for Unocal, Amgen, The Los Angeles Times, Edwards Lifesciences, Power-One, the UCLA MBA program, among many others. Currently, Dr. Palleschi is consulting with Fortune 500, as well as not for profit organizations. She was Chair of the Board of The Southern California Leadership Network. She has just completed her tenure on the Board of Goodwill Industries. She and her husband fund "The Palleschi Hart Teaching Fellowship" at the University of Massachusetts which recognizes excellent teaching at the graduate level.
